Set up NuVotifier: reward your players for voting

Install and configure the NuVotifier plugin on Paper, Spigot, BungeeCord or Velocity: port 8192, token, opening the port and vote rewards with VotingPlugin. Step-by-step guide.

Updated on

Rewarding players who vote is the best way to get votes every day. NuVotifier receives the votes sent by ranking sites and notifies your server, which hands out the reward automatically.

How it works

  1. The player votes for your server on CraftRank with their Minecraft username.
  2. CraftRank sends the vote to your server, on the NuVotifier port, with your secret token.
  3. A reward plugin (VotingPlugin, SuperbVote…) gives the player their reward.

1. Install NuVotifier

Download NuVotifier, put it in your server's plugins folder, then restart. It works on Spigot and Paper, and also on BungeeCord and Velocity proxies. With a proxy, install it on the proxy and turn on vote forwarding to your servers (the forwarding section of its configuration).

2. Get the port and the token

Open plugins/Votifier/config.yml (or plugins/nuvotifier/config.yml):

host: 0.0.0.0
port: 8192
tokens:
  default: YOUR_SECRET_TOKEN
  • port: 8192 by default;
  • token: the value after default:. Keep it secret: it allows sending votes to your server.

3. Open the port

The NuVotifier port must be reachable from the Internet, over TCP. With a Minecraft host, you often need to add an extra port in the panel (or ask support) and enter it in config.yml. At home, open it on your router like the game port.

4. Fill in CraftRank

In My servers → Edit, “Vote rewards” section, enter:

  • Host: your server's address (often the same as the game address, without the port);
  • Port: the NuVotifier port;
  • Token: the token from config.yml.

Your server's vote page then tells players that a reward awaits them. To get it, they must vote with the same username they use in game.

5. Set up the reward

NuVotifier gives nothing by itself: install a reward plugin such as VotingPlugin or SuperbVote, and define what the player gets (money, crate keys, items, temporary rank…). A good reward is one that is useful every day without unbalancing the game.

Not working?

  • The port is closed: this is the most common cause. Check it with your host.
  • The token is wrong: copy it again, with no space at the start or end.
  • The server restarted: a vote sent during a restart is lost.
  • The player got nothing: check that they voted with their exact username, and your reward plugin's configuration.

To go further: add the CraftRank Discord bot, which reminds your players to vote every day.

FAQ

What is NuVotifier for?

NuVotifier receives the votes sent by ranking sites and tells your server. Combined with a reward plugin (VotingPlugin, SuperbVote…), it automatically rewards the player who voted.

Votifier or NuVotifier?

NuVotifier is the modern, maintained version of Votifier: it supports protocol v2 (with a token) and the old protocol v1 (with a public key). Prefer NuVotifier on recent servers.

Which port does NuVotifier use?

Port 8192 by default, configurable in plugins/Votifier/config.yml. It must be open in TCP at your host to receive votes.

How do I test that NuVotifier works?

On CraftRank, open your server page → Edit → Vote rewards, then "Send a test vote": you see at once whether the vote arrives, or why it fails.

Do you run a Minecraft server?

List it for free and get it discovered by players.
